From comfort levels and mattress sizes to bases, body impressions, delivery and guarantee information, this page is designed to help you make a more informed decision and get the best from your mattress over time.

Choosing Your Mattress

Choosing the right mattress comes down to comfort, support, sleeping position, body type, temperature, mattress size and whether you share the bed with a partner.

Your mattress should feel comfortable while still supporting your body properly. We recommend visiting an authorised retailer to try different Crown Posture Bedding mattresses in person, compare comfort levels and find the option that feels right for you.

Comfort is the surface feel of the mattress. It is what you notice when you first lie down, and may feel firm, medium, plush or extra plush depending on the model.

Support is what helps keep your body aligned while you sleep. The right mattress should offer both comfort and support, helping your body relax without sinking too deeply or creating pressure points.

The best comfort level for your back depends on your body, sleeping position and personal preference. A firmer mattress is not always the right choice.

As a general guide, side sleepers often prefer a medium to plush feel, back sleepers often prefer a medium to firm feel, and stomach sleepers often prefer a medium to firm feel. The best mattress is the one that supports your body while still feeling comfortable enough for you to relax.

A mattress can feel different depending on your body shape, sleeping position and comfort preference. Trying a mattress in store helps you compare different comfort levels and understand what feels supportive and comfortable for your body.

If you share the bed with a partner, it is also helpful to try the mattress together so you can assess comfort, space and partner disturbance.

Comfort & Sleep Needs

Partner disturbance can be reduced by choosing a mattress that minimises motion transfer and gives each person enough sleeping space.

Pocket spring systems can help because each spring responds more independently. Choosing a larger mattress, such as a King or Super King, may also help reduce disturbance during the night.

If you tend to sleep hot, consider the mattress materials, comfort layers, bedding, room temperature and whether you share the bed with a partner.

Some Crown Posture Bedding mattresses include materials designed to assist breathability or temperature regulation. Your choice of sheets, doona, pillow and mattress protector can also affect how warm or cool you feel while sleeping. Natural, breathable fibres may help create a cooler sleep environment, while heavier bedding can trap more warmth.

For the best result, consider your mattress and bedding together, rather than treating them separately.

Sizes, Bases & Compatibility

Long Single: W 92 cm × L 203 cm

King Single: W 107 cm × L 203 cm

Double: W 138 cm × L 188 cm

Super King: W 203 cm × L 203 cm

The right mattress size depends on your room, your body, whether you share the bed and how much sleeping space you prefer.

If you share the bed with a partner, a larger mattress can help reduce partner disturbance and give each person more room to sleep comfortably.

Yes. Some Crown Posture Bedding mattresses can be made in custom sizes to suit custom bed frames, antique beds, caravans or other non-standard spaces.

Speak with your retailer to confirm what is possible for the range and model you are considering.

Your Crown Posture Bedding mattress should be used on a supportive base that provides even support across the mattress.

If using a timber slat base, the gaps between slats should be no greater than approximately 100mm. A base that is bowed, damaged, uneven or has slats spaced too far apart may affect the feel and performance of your mattress.

For best performance and guarantee coverage, we recommend using your mattress with a suitable Crown Posture Bedding base or a supportive base recommended by your retailer.

Some Crown Posture Bedding mattresses can be used with an adjustable base, as long as the mattress is specifically designed or ordered to be adjustable-base friendly.

Before using your mattress on an adjustable base, check the product details or speak with your retailer to confirm compatibility.

Delivery & Retailers

Crown Posture Bedding mattresses are available exclusively through Forty Winks.

Use the Find a Retailer page to locate the nearest Forty Winks to you. Range and model availability may vary by retailer and location, so we recommend contacting your local retailer before visiting if you are interested in a specific mattress.

Your local council may offer mattress collection or recycling services. In some cases, the retailer delivering your new mattress may also be able to arrange removal of your old mattress.

Check with your local council or retailer before delivery so you know what options are available.

Mattress Care

Regular rotation helps your mattress settle evenly and supports long-term comfort.

As a general guide, new mattresses should be rotated every 2 weeks for the first 6 months, then every 3 months after that. Not all mattresses are designed to be flipped. Some are single-sided and should only be rotated, while others may have different care instructions.

Always follow the care information supplied with your Crown Posture Bedding product.

Yes. A quality mattress protector should be used from the first night to help protect your mattress from spills, stains, moisture and everyday soiling.

Using a mattress protector also helps maintain a cleaner sleep surface and may be required to keep your mattress eligible under the product guarantee.

If a spill occurs, attend to it as soon as possible. Gently blot the area with a clean, dry cloth. Do not soak the mattress or use harsh cleaning products.

Allow the mattress to dry completely before replacing bedding. A mattress protector is the best way to help prevent spills and stains from reaching the mattress surface.

Body Impressions

Yes. Body impressions, also known as body signatures, are a normal part of how many quality mattresses settle over time.

As the comfort layers respond to your body shape, weight and sleeping position, you may notice slight indentations where you sleep most often. This is not usually a fault. It is a sign that the comfort layers are contouring to your body.

Body impressions up to 35mm on a pillow top mattress and 25mm on a non-pillow top mattress are considered normal and are not covered under the guarantee.

To help minimise uneven settling, rotate your mattress as recommended, use a suitable base and avoid sleeping in exactly the same position every night where possible.

Queen and king size mattresses can sometimes develop a slight rise through the centre, especially if the middle of the mattress is used less often.

This is normal and does not usually indicate a defect. The mattress will naturally remain firmer in areas where you and your partner do not sleep.

Yes. A new mattress may feel different from the one you tried in store.

Display mattresses in store may have already softened slightly through use, while your new mattress will need time to settle. Your body may also need time to adjust to the new support system and comfort layers.

Guarantee & Registration

Registering your mattress helps Crown Posture Bedding keep a record of your purchase and product details.

You should also retain your original receipt or proof of purchase, as this may be required if you need to make a guarantee claim.

If you believe there is an issue with your mattress or base, contact the retailer where you purchased the product.

You will usually need to provide proof of purchase, product details and supporting photos so the issue can be assessed.

The guarantee does not cover normal wear and tear, comfort preference, misuse, damage caused by an unsuitable base, stains, soiling, burns, cuts, excessive moisture or failure to follow the care instructions supplied with the product.

Body impressions within the stated tolerance are also considered normal and are not covered under the guarantee.
